Floor is Lava- Devlog 1


My initial idea for the prompt "puzzle game" was to make a simple, 5-6 step 3D escape room in Unreal as a test for my larger capstone project this semester. When I barely touched that idea all week I decided to pivot, and I've managed to whip up basically my whole puzzle game in the past hour and a half. It's really simple- the floor is lava. I built it in Godot, and the Area2D is the backbone of the whole project. essentially the player has to reach the exit and not touch any of the invisible collision polygons that act as the "lava".

I was raging playing my first version of the first two levels, so I added some landmark tiles so it's more fair- for the players and for me, because otherwise the game is a real hair-ripper.

I also slapped a simple track I made on this music website Jummbox- called 'the twilight club' -on the start screen, which I'm pretty proud of.

For the remainder of the time left that I have to finish the project, I'm planning to add a backing track to the actual levels and possibly some simple SFX.
